Meet our finalists

CHARLEY STENT-WILSON

Charley was diagnosed with cancer at the end of 2018.  Since then she has spent time in Bristol Children's Hospital & many, many hours in Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.  She has undergone countless lumbar punctures & every time she wakes up from her "magic sleep" she wants food. She undergoes regular blood tests & up until very recently has had to have daily injections in her leg, alongside her chemotherapy treatment.  She will be having chemo until April 2021 and is now also losing her hair. During all of this time she has been cheerful, brave & strong & keeps the rest of the family entertained, wanting to join in with all the normal activities a 6 year old should be doing.  Despite missing a fair amount of school this year, she continues to want to learn & often asks her parents if they can go to hospital early so she can attend hospital school. All being well, she should be able to attend school full time from September. No child should have to go through this, but Charley is an inspiration to everyone & has kept her sense of humour, love of fun & determination all the way through.

MILLIE SHARP

Millie sharp is 10 years old and a dedicated Brownie. At around 18 months she had a brain tumour which needed treatment in America, it left her with lots of disabilities from weakness in her left side to visual problems and also epilepsy. She is such a courageous determined little girl, she participates in all activities and recently at brownie camps she took part in canoeing, zip wire, Jacob ladders, giant swing, survivor lessons, snow tubing, tobogganing and many more. Millie also went from carrying a flag in her wheelchair on a Remembrance Parade to the next year walking all the way. This little girl has never let her disabilities through her tumour beat her and she gives 100% to her brownie unit.
