Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery - Jenny Colgan

Polly never regretted changing her life so radically, couldn’t believe her luck. She also reckoned that she had had her share of bad luck, and that nothing more was likely to go wrong…

A truly wonderful tale of determination, love, and a perfect puffin called Neil, all wrapped up in the magical setting of an old Cornish island.

Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan book coverSummer at Little Beach Street Bakery is the follow up to Colgans’ Little Beach Street Bakery. If you’ve not read the first – do it, but don’t let it put you off the second, it’s a perfect stand alone story, you soon catch up with the trials and tribulations of our heroine, Polly.

Now settled on the island with her true love, Huckle, Polly manages two bakeries, and lives on the island of Mount Polberne, in the lighthouse.

It really does sound idyllic – but of course, something is bound to go wrong.

Enter Malcolm, the man who’s about to turn Polly’s world upside down.

Add to that, the heartbroken, but mysterious widow Selina, and the dark clouds begin to loom over the tiny island of Mount Polberne, and you’ll soon realise that life is far from plain sailing for Polly.

I LOVE, love these stories from the fictional location of Mount Polberne, which cleverly transports you straight into gorgeous Cornwall – the detail so great, you can almost hear the waves crashing over the causeway, and smell the seaweed.

I urge you to read it, I guarantee, if you love Chick Lit, you will not be able to put it down.

I daresay you may even find yourself wanting a pet Puffin by the end of it (you can’t – I googled it).

Other great reads from Jenny Colgan include ‘Little Beach Street Bakery’, ‘Rosie Hopkins’ Sweet Shop of Dreams’ and ‘The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris’.
