The winners of Child of Courage Award is:

Amelia and Sammie-Jo Mason

Amelia (14) & Sammie-Jo (12) have both been young carers for most of their lives to their father who is partially sighted and has now been diagnosed with dementia. Also recently their mother has had to leave work due to other health issues and the 2 girls have become carers for her as well. Both girls look after their parents when needed, do lots of jobs at home and generally keep everyone’s spirits high. Their parents say that Sammie-Jo & Amelia even phone them on their lunch break at school to see if they are ok, they feel extremely lucky to have them.

The Child of Courage Award runner-up is:

Zoe Hunt

Zoe’s Mother has Multiple Sclerosis and Zoe helps her in many different ways, she assists her with day to day tasks that her Mum can no longer do. She quite often sacrifices fun with her friends as she loves to spend time with her Mum and be there for her. She never complains about anything extra she has to do and is described by loads of people as being a friendly happy go lucky teenager who is very loving and thoughtful of others.
