The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award is Kathrine Reeves 

Katherine ReevesKathrine is 83 and volunteers at the nursing home regularly to keep the elderly resident's company, she makes twiddle muffs and other knitted items to help dementia sufferers and keep residents warm, she collects old photos and paper clippings and takes them for the residents.  Kathrine has been issued with a ‘Visitor Badge’ as staff were confusing her for one of the residents as she is older than many in the home.

Kathrine also dedicates her days during the winter to the British Legion by selling poppies in the Regent Arcade every year.  Kathrine is a volunteer Scout Leader and helps with events and fundraising for charity through the Scout Club. Kathrine brings so much joy to so many through her kind-hearted donations and volunteering, she also hosts a monthly family tea and annual Christmas party for her Children, Grand-Children and Great Grand-Children.

Our runner-up is John Woodward

John WoodwardJohn is the Cheltenham Rugby Club Historian and has been a Club volunteer for over 40 years.In addition to playing, he coached and managed Junior sides, in the Club, encouraging hundreds of youngsters to take part in sport and physical exercise, and remain active.

John was also deeply involved in local Boys Clubs and schools in the County and encouraging them to aspire to playing at high levels in the game.

He has been deeply involved in giving publicity to all former club members, who gave their lives fighting in WW1 and WW2. John has initiated a magnificent display area in the clubhouse of photos and press cuttings and the Club is very proud to draw attention to these courageous young men. Many of the families have visited the Club to see our display. All the soldiers are honoured on Remembrance Day. At certain times of the year, in line with 'historical' battle dates, they are mentioned with photographs in the club match programme.

John has also been responsible for designing and the layout of memorabilia in our 'New Zealand' lounge. With many photos of when NZ toured England in 1905 and played Cheltenham Rugby Club, together with shirts from former All Black players. Many former NZ players, who visit England, come to the Clubhouse to see our display.

John continues to be very active in giving reports for the Club Newsletter and is a participant in 'Dads Army', who give their time to improve the Club's clubhouse and facilities for the benefit of the local Community. John is a highly valued volunteer and has given many local people a great of pleasure during the last 40 years.
