How about making some toys with everyday items?

You’ll need:

  • ½ cup of table salt
  • 2 tbsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 cup of boiling water (adult to touch only)
  • Food colouring

  • In a bowl, combine the flour, salt and cream of tartar. Mix well.
  • Add the oil
  • Mix a few drops of food colouring into the boiling water and add to the bowl.
  • Mix everything very well and massage with your hands until it is no longer sticky
  • Once it has fully cooled, wrap it in plastic and put in an airtight container. Store at room temperature.

You’ll need:

  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 1 + ¾ cup of water
  • Food colouring
  • 3-4 cups of corn starch

  • Mix the chia seeds, water and food colouring together.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Uncover and add the corn starch a little at a time. About a cup at a time. Mix and then continue until you achieve the desired consistency. Should be like regular slime, slimy but can easily be taken off hands.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator. You will need to add a little water each time you take it out to use it. It will reactive the slime.

Ice Paints

  • Ice cube tray
  • Water
  • Food colouring
  • Popsicle sticks

  • Fill an ice cube tray with water. Do not overfill.

  • Mix the water and food colouring together.
  • Use the pipette to add drops of the water mixture to the top of the shaving cream cloud.
  • Continue adding the water mixture until you begin to notice the raindrops begin to break through the bottom of the cloud.
