Dame Vera Lynn's storms up the charts
Music is keeping many upbeat as the UK's lockdown continues - and it seems Dame Vera Lynn's wartime classic We'll Meet Again is one of the songs helping people through.
After the Queen's reference to the song in her address to the nation in response to the coronavirus crisis, sales have increased by a massive 580% so far week-on-week, according to the Official Charts Company.
Famous for the lyric, ''We'll meet again, Don't know where, Don't know when, But I know we'll meet again some sunny day," the song is a positive reminder of being able to see family and friends again once the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
Yesterday, opera singer Katherine Jenkins confirmed she will be recording a duet of the song with Dame Vera to raise money for the NHS.
The Queen's reference to the song came after the Forces' Sweetheart's 103rd birthday in March, which she marked with an uplifting message urging fans to "keep smiling and keep singing".
As a nod to the "difficult times" the nation is currently facing due to the outbreak, Dame Vera also posted a short burst of a new video for her signature tune.
The Official Charts figures are based on download sales from digital retailers including iTunes and Amazon.
It's currently number 9 in the UK Charts.
